New City Kitchen is a social enterprise providing employment training and placement in the food service industry. We also provide catering and lunch services to Portland businesses.
Our motto is "taste the hope." We provide smart second chances to people who have demonstrated they want to work and have what it takes to succeed in the workforce. Using a sustainable platform, our trainees develop the deeper skills training and work experience necessary to secure employment in the private sector.

New City Kitchen grew out of CUSINA, a cooking class that began at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Portland. From the very beginning, we saw people with great cooking skills, some of whom had previous experience working in commercial kitchens, who were asking us, "Can you help me get a job?" In 2011, New City Initiative launched New City Kitchen to help people with employment challenges find work in the food service industry.
